Frank Carter

Frank Carter has been a massive influence on me now for a few years, originally his band 'Gallows' pulled me into hardcore music, but I started to notice his artwork and his tattoo work. Here are some images of his paintings.

Jimi Crayon

Jimi Crayon works with clothing companies such as addict and adidas, creating street art, posters, websites and t-shirts designs. He works in teams to create murals on a large scale to gain the biggest effect. I like his bold use of colour that help his designs pop out.

Deadbeat Donny

Deadbeat Donny is a street artist who's work I saw in an exhibition recently. He uses a range of materials and media to create his work which has it's own style in the street art world. I really like his illustrative paintings as he does not use too much colour to add to the impact.

Sickboy

Sickboy does it all, graphic design, street art, graffiti and fine art. His style is really unique and different, the use of colour, shapes and style of illustration is just amazing. I'd definitely like to see more of this way of working.

Luca Barcellona

Probably one of the best videos i've seen in a long time. I'm actually amazed with how perfect typography can be done by hand. No rulers, no stencils, just a pen. I think this is my new favourite artist. Graphic Design isn't all about illustrator, which annoys me how people assume it is.

Amidst all of the hype of modern design and computers, we have remained true by generating the majority of our designs by hand, viewing the computer as a tool and not letting it dictate out designs - ames design

Mail Shot Research: Tags

Been collecting swing tags and cool advertising booklets, here are some of the examples. The size? 1 page, booklet that folds down into a really small, compact shape is really effective and could be useful for inspiration during this project.

Adorn - Eric Elms

Found this graphic designer on one of my t-shirt tags. His work is relates perfectly with graphic design taking important aspects such as; colour, layout, typography and image. As you can see there is a massive amount of work gone into each piece of work, wether it's a book, website or exhibition.

Taka Hayashi

This artist uses black and white illustrations throughout his work, I think this is really effective and I can relate my own work to his absence of colour. Although colour is an important aspect to design, it's not always essential.

Greg 'Pnut' Galinsky

This designers work is incredibly simple and bold. His illustrations have a lot of minor character detail worked into them, which makes the more effective as an image. There is only 2-3 colours used mainly throughout his work, which is an important aspect to design.

Josh Sutterby 'Alfa'

I bought an addict t-shirt with a really colourful illustration print, this is the artist/illustrator that was featured. I really like his style of work, the way he has incorporated his powerful imagery together with vibrant colour. There is also a lot of mixed media used throughout his work.

Ray Caesar

I admire this artists work for the realistic, detailed way he illustrates his paintings. They almost seem life like. As you can see a great deal of time and effort has gone into his planning, this is something I would like to achieve in my own work.

Camille Rose Garcia

I really like the range of media this artist uses throughout her work. The textures and colour work exceptionally well together, creating a dark, grotesque look to her artwork.

Mark Ryden

Mark Ryden isn't exactly a graphic designer, but his work in some context does portray a message in design. I admire his use of tradtional 20th century furnishings and fashion. His attention to detail is incredible, deffinitely a big influence.
